Maine Fishing, Fly Fishing, Ice Fishing, Remote lakes. Fish
Salmon, Lake Trout (Togue), Native Trout, and Smallmouth bass

Within a twenty-five mile radius to the north of our lodge, we have over 100 lakes and ponds, along with major rivers. Some of these waters are world renowned fisheries. Ice-out trolling for landlocked salmon and lake trout can produce some rod jerking action.

Salmon are prowling the waters just below the surface at this time of year and can be taken on streamer flies and lures on ultra-light equipment. This action takes place as soon as you can get a boat on the water, through the month of June. Ice-out combined with the local smelt run can produce some breathtaking action.

We have many ponds and rivers in the area that are open to fly-fishing only and can give up some hefty trout and salmon. Many of the smaller ponds are remote walk in ponds and produce some good trout fishing and some of the rivers such as the Roach River and the West Branch of the Penobscot produce both plump trout and landlocked salmon.

The Roach River is a no-kill river, having to release all fish alive and some stretches of the Penobscot are fly-fishing only; with minimum length limits of 26” on salmon. This river has produced many trophy sized salmon. Fly fishing the smaller ponds produces some fat brookies in June.

We also stay open year round and offer some excellent ice fishing for
salmon, trout and lake trout. We have an excellent fishery for small mouth bass in our area that has always been under-utilized.

The Piscataquis and Penobscot rivers are full of smallies.
It’s not unheard of to boat more than fifty bass a day on a single outing.

Some of the local ponds produce bass in the three to four pound range. Bass fishing is best in late June, July and August producing plenty of action for everyone.

Whatever your fishing desires are, look to us for a full menu of fishing trips. We do a trip in June and early July to a remote lake by float plane for native brook trout and rare blueback trout. We keep boats on the lake and fly everything else in with us, set up a tent camp and enjoy the peace and quiet, and of course the fishing.

We also offer guided trips from our lodge with full meals and lodging provided.
